Create and set up a job board

Create a board, choose its address, and set its default form, languages, legal links and candidate emails.

Written by Gustavo Teran

A board holds your live jobs and decides where they are published, how they look and which form candidates fill in. Most agencies need one board. Create more if you recruit under different brands or want a separate careers page per client or region.

Create a board

  1. Go to Settings → Jobs → Job boards, or click Manage boards on the Job Board page.

  2. Click New job board.

  3. Enter a Name. This shows in the browser tab and in search results, so use the name candidates know you by. Give every board a different name, because the job form lists boards by name.

  4. Check the Slug. It is filled in from the name and becomes part of the board's address.

  5. Choose a Domain. The default is jobs.candidate.ly. If your company has its own domain set up, you can choose it here. Each domain can be used by one board only. On a custom domain, the board is served at /jobs, for example careers.youragency.com/jobs.

  6. Click Create job board.

Board settings

  • Application form: the form candidates fill in on this board. Leave it on Use company default, or pick another form. Single jobs can still use a different one.

  • Job appearance: which fields show on job pages for this board. See Choose which fields appear on jobs.

  • Default locale and Supported locales: the languages of the board. English and German are available.

  • Show job owner on public job pages: shows the recruiter's name on each job page.

  • Publish an XML feed for job distribution: see Search engines, link previews and XML job feeds.

Candidate emails

  • Sender name: who candidates see as the sender. If empty, the agency name from the board's theme is used.

  • Reply-to: where candidate replies go. If empty, replies go to the sending address.

  • Send test email: sends a sample to your own email address so you can check the sender details.

Legal links

  • Privacy policy URL and Terms of use URL: leave empty to use your company-wide links from Settings → Company. Set them only if this board needs different ones.

  • These links appear in the board footer and in the consent checkboxes on the application form.

Job description footer

Text shown under every job description on this board, such as an equal-opportunity statement or a short "About us". Changes apply to all jobs on the board at once.

Default board, archive and audit

  • Set as company default: makes this board the company default.

  • Archive: takes the board offline. Its public address then shows "This job board could not be found". Use Restore to bring it back. Boards can't be deleted.

  • Audit tab: a log of changes to the board.
