My exported resume looks different from the preview

A PDF download is exactly the file you see in the preview. If the resume looks different, it's usually a Word export, or a setting on the export screen changed.

Who it's for: Owners, Admins and Members.

It's a Word file

The Word file is built separately from the PDF. Word can show fonts and page breaks differently on each computer.

  • If the look matters, send the PDF.

  • If you need Word, open the file in Word before you send it, and fix page breaks there.

Attachments or the original resume are missing

  • Attached documents and the original resume are added to PDF exports only, not to Word.

  • The original resume is only added when it's a PDF or an image. A Word original isn't included.

  • Check the order in Sort files on the export screen. See Attach documents or the original resume to an export.

Details you hid show up on the export

Control candidate data on the export screen applies to that export only. Set it again before you download.

Control candidate data toggles

To change what's hidden by default, edit the Candidate data control tab of your candidate appearance. See Create an anonymous resume.

The file name shows the candidate's full name

The file name doesn't follow Primary name. If you made the resume anonymous, edit Set file name for export before you download. See Change the file name of an exported resume.

The branding or template is different

The export screen preselects your default branding and candidate appearance. Check Select branding and Select candidate appearance before you download. See Choose the branding, template and recruiter contact for an export.

The details are out of date

The export shows the profile as it is now. Click Edit candidate profile at the bottom of the export screen, fix the details, then export again.

Credits: The first export after an edit uses 1 credit.
