Troubleshooting: search is slow, stuck, or the Bullhorn tab is blank

How long a search should take, what to do when results don't load, and how to fix a blank Candidate Search tab in Bullhorn.

How long should a search take?

A normal search shows first results in 5–15 seconds. The AI has to read your text, build the filters, run the search and write the summaries and evaluations for the top results. Longer: very large databases, very long pasted job descriptions, or a first search right after a big sync.

The results area shows grey placeholder cards for a long time

  • Wait 20 seconds. Summaries are generated per candidate and can trail the list.

  • Refresh the page. The search is saved under its URL, so you land back on the same results.

  • If it happens on every search, note the time and the Search URL and contact support.

The Bullhorn Candidate Search tab is blank

  1. Give it 10–15 seconds. The embedded app loads inside Bullhorn.

  2. Click the refresh icon on the Bullhorn job record (top right, next to the pin), then open the tab again.

  3. Check you are logged in to Candidately: open app.candidate.ly in a new browser tab. If it asks you to log in, do that, then reload the Bullhorn job.

  4. Browser: Candidately runs in an iframe inside Bullhorn. If your browser blocks third-party cookies for bullhornstaffing.com or candidate.ly, the tab stays blank. Allow cookies for both, or try Chrome or Edge with default settings.

  5. Corporate network: ask IT to allow app.candidate.ly (and its subdomains) if other tabs work but this one doesn't.

The tab isn't there at all

Look under More on the job's tab bar. If it is missing for you but colleagues see it, your Bullhorn admin needs to add the Candidately tab or action to your user type. See the Admin guide.

Apply Changes doesn't seem to do anything

It only runs when a filter actually changed. If you edited a filter chip and cancelled, nothing changed. Make the edit, click Done inside the filter, then Apply Changes.

Name search in AI Search is slow

Use the All candidates tab and its search bar for names, emails and IDs. AI Search is built for role descriptions.

What to send support

  • The Search URL (Copy Search URL) or the Bullhorn job ID

  • What you typed

  • A screenshot

  • Time and browser
