Fixes for a slow or stuck Candidate Search AI search, and for a blank or missing Candidately tab in Bullhorn.
How long should a search take?
A Candidate Search AI search usually shows first results within a few seconds. Candidate Search AI reads your text, builds the filters, runs the search and writes the summaries for the top results. It can take longer with very large databases, very long pasted job descriptions, or a first search right after a big sync.
Re-running a search from a Bullhorn job with a different job description rebuilds all filters and takes about 20 seconds.
You see "Too many searches, please try again in a minute."
Cause: too many searches were run in a short time.
Fix: wait a minute, then run the search again.
Verify: results load without the message.
The results show grey placeholder cards for a long time
Cause: summaries are written per candidate and can appear after the list.
Fix: wait a little. If nothing changes, refresh the page. The search is saved, so you land back on the same results. You can also open the link you copied with Copy Search URL.
Verify: the result cards show the AI Summary. If it happens on every search, note the time and the search link and send us a message in the chat.
The Candidately tab in Bullhorn is blank
Cause: the Candidately tab runs inside Bullhorn and needs you to be logged in to Candidately, with cookies allowed.
Fix:
Give the Candidately tab a few seconds to load.
Click the refresh icon at the top right of the Bullhorn job record, then open the Candidately tab again.
Open app.candidate.ly in a new browser tab. If it asks you to log in, log in, then reload the Bullhorn job.
Check your browser allows third-party cookies for bullhornstaffing.com and candidate.ly. If it blocks them, the Candidately tab stays blank. Allow cookies for both, or try Chrome or Edge with default settings.
On a corporate network, ask IT to allow app.candidate.ly if other Bullhorn tabs work but the Candidately tab doesn't.
Verify: the Candidately tab shows the search for the job.
The Candidately tab isn't in Bullhorn
Cause: the Candidately tab isn't added to your Bullhorn account, or it's hidden under More.
Fix: look under More on the job's tab bar. If the Candidately tab is missing, the Owner of your Candidately account adds it in Settings → Integrations → Bullhorn. There are three options: Custom tab on jobs (search from a job), Top matches tab on jobs, and Custom App Button (in the Bullhorn menu under Marketplace). If the Candidately tab is missing for you but colleagues see it, ask your Bullhorn admin.
Verify: the Candidately tab appears on the job record.
Apply Changes doesn't seem to do anything
Cause: Apply Changes only runs when a filter changed. If you edited a filter and cancelled, nothing changed.
Fix: make the edit, click Done inside the filter, then click Apply Changes.
Verify: the results reload.
Name search in AI Search is slow
Cause: AI Search is built for role descriptions, not names.
Fix: switch the toggle to All candidates and use its search bar for names and emails.
Verify: the candidate shows up in All candidates.
