Add a candidate photo

To put a candidate's photo on the resume, open the profile and click More > Add candidate avatar, then pick and crop the photo.

Who it's for: Owners, Admins and Members. Before you start: have the photo on your computer as a PNG, JPG, BMP, GIF or TIFF file. Whether the photo shows on the resume depends on your branding (see below).

Steps

  1. Open the candidate, then the profile.

  2. Click More at the top right, then Add candidate avatar.

More menu with "Add candidate avatar" highlighted
  3. Pick the photo on your computer.

  4. The photo opens in a square crop window. Click Crop.

Crop dialog for the candidate photo with Cancel and Crop
  5. You see "Avatar updated successfully". The photo shows to the left of the candidate's name in the profile preview.

Remove the photo

Hover over the photo on the profile and click the icon Remove avatar.

Hovering the photo shows "Remove avatar"

Show or hide photos on resumes

Your branding decides if photos show on the resume. Owners and Admins set this:

  1. Open the user menu (your name, bottom left) > Settings > Branding.

  2. Under Display candidate avatar, choose:

    • No, hide avatar: never show a photo.

    • Yes, display avatar

    • Only show avatar when image is uploaded: show a photo only when the profile has one. This is the default.

Branding setting "Display candidate avatar" with three options
  3. Click Save changes at the bottom of the page.

Each branding has its own setting. On the export screen, Select branding decides which one is used.

Good to know

  • The photo belongs to the profile, not the candidate. Other profiles of the same candidate don't get it.

  • Duplicating a profile copies its photo. A photo you add after duplicating is only on the profile you added it to.

  • An anonymous export still shows the photo. To hide it, export with a branding where Display candidate avatar is No, hide avatar. See Create an anonymous resume.

Troubleshooting

  • The photo doesn't show on the resume. Check that this profile has the photo. Then check Display candidate avatar in the branding you export with. If it's No, hide avatar, the photo is hidden.

  • You see "Uploading … files is not allowed". The file type isn't accepted. Use PNG, JPG, BMP, GIF or TIFF.

Common questions

How do I add the candidate's picture to the CV? Open the profile and click More > Add candidate avatar.

Can I hide the photo for some clients? Yes. Use a branding with Display candidate avatar set to No, hide avatar for those exports.

I added a photo but another profile of the same candidate doesn't have it. Photos are saved per profile. Add it to that profile too.
