Import a candidate from Bullhorn

Pick a candidate in Bullhorn and a resume from their Bullhorn files, and Candidately creates the candidate and a profile. You don't need to upload the resume again.

Who it's for: Owners, Admins and Members. Before you start: an Owner has connected Bullhorn (see Connect Bullhorn to Resume Builder). Importing doesn't use credits. Reading the resume counts toward your resume parsing limit, the same as an upload.

Steps

  1. In the left menu, click Candidates, then click Add candidate at the top right.

  2. Click Create candidate and profile from Bullhorn.

Add candidate menu with "Create candidate and profile from Bullhorn" highlighted
  3. In Import candidate from Bullhorn, type a Bullhorn ID, name or email in the search box, then click the candidate. Candidates already in Candidately show Imported and can't be picked again.

Import candidate from Bullhorn search with results; one row to pick and rows marked Imported highlighted
  4. The Select CV/resume to create new profile window lists the candidate's files with type, date and size. Click Select next to the resume you want. No resume in Bullhorn? Click Add new profile without CV/resume.

Select CV/resume to create new profile window with Select and Add new profile without CV/resume highlighted

What happens next

Candidately reads the resume and creates the candidate with a first profile, the same way as an upload. Details from Bullhorn are added too, such as name, job title, email, phone, address and skills, plus any fields your company has mapped.

The candidate stays linked to the Bullhorn record. On the profile you see an orange Bullhorn button (Open in Bullhorn) and a block BULLHORN CANDIDATE DATA (INTERNAL) with the Bullhorn ID and email.

Add a profile from a Bullhorn file

If the candidate is already in Candidately (it shows Imported), add a profile instead:

  1. Open the candidate and click Add profile.

  2. Click Create new profile from Bullhorn file.

Add profile menu with "Create new profile from Bullhorn file" highlighted
  3. Click Select next to the resume.

Good to know

  • Only PDF, Word and image files from the candidate's Bullhorn files are listed.

  • Your company can set Candidately to create or update candidates when a resume is added in Bullhorn (user menu > Settings > Bullhorn, Owners only). Then many candidates already show Imported, and their profiles show "Bullhorn Integration" under Created by.

  • Edits you make in Candidately aren't written back to the Bullhorn record. To put the formatted resume in Bullhorn, see Save a resume to Bullhorn.

  • Working inside Bullhorn? On the Candidately tab of a Bullhorn candidate, click Create and link candidate, then add a profile from a Bullhorn file.

Troubleshooting

  • The resume isn't in the list. Check that it's in the candidate's files in Bullhorn and is a PDF, Word or image file. Other file types aren't listed.

  • You see "This candidate already exists." The candidate is already in Candidately. Open them from All candidates and add a profile from a Bullhorn file.

  • There's no Bullhorn option under Add candidate. Bullhorn isn't connected. Ask an Owner to connect it.

Common questions

A candidate's resume is in Bullhorn but I can't find it when I import. Only PDF, Word and image files show. Check the file type in Bullhorn, or download it and upload it as a new profile.

Do changes in Candidately update Bullhorn? No. Use Send to Bullhorn on the export screen to save the formatted resume to Bullhorn.
