Import a job from Bullhorn

Turn a Bullhorn job order into a job on your board, from Candidately or from the Job Board tab in Bullhorn.

Written by Jan Alexander Jedlinski

Who can do this: Owners, Admins and Members.

Before you start: Bullhorn needs to be connected (see Connect Bullhorn to your Job Board). To start from Bullhorn, the Job Board tab needs to be on your job orders.

Importing a job order fills in the job form from Bullhorn, so you only check and publish. To bring in matching job orders on their own, turn on Auto-import jobs (see Connect Bullhorn to your Job Board).

Search Bullhorn from Candidately

  1. Click Job boards in the left menu, then Create job.

  2. Click Search Bullhorn jobs.

Create job menu: Create manually (opens the job form) or Search Bullhorn jobs (import an existing JobOrder)
  3. Type part of the title and pick the job order. Job orders already on a board are marked Already imported.

Search Bullhorn jobs dialog with Developer typed, listing Bullhorn job orders by ID, title and client company to import

The job form opens, filled in from the job order.

Start from the job order in Bullhorn

  1. Open the job order in Bullhorn.

  2. Click the Job Board tab.

If the job isn't on your board yet, a new job form opens, filled in from Bullhorn. If it's already on your board, you get that job instead of a copy.

Check and publish

The form fills in the title, description, location, category, work mode, employment type, compensation, client, contact, owner, assignees and any fields in your Job field mapping.

  1. Under Board, pick the board the job goes on.

  2. Check the rest of the form. If the job order has no address, add the location by hand.

  3. Click Save changes. The job is saved as a Draft.

  4. Click Publish, then Publish again to confirm.

You see Job status updated and the job shows Live. The job stays linked to its job order.

Good to know

  • With Keep linked jobs up to date on, a change in Bullhorn replaces edits made in Candidately. Make your edits in Bullhorn.

  • Linked jobs can also publish, pause, close and archive on their own when the job order changes, if your Bullhorn settings say so.

  • Candidately never creates or changes job orders in Bullhorn.

Troubleshooting

A job from Bullhorn didn't show up on its own

Check that Auto-import jobs is on, a rule matches the job order, and the job order is open. You can always add it by hand with Search Bullhorn jobs.

The Job Board tab doesn't show in Bullhorn

Check the tab is Enabled and given to your user type, then tick it under LAYOUT > TABS on a job order. Logging out of Bullhorn and back in can help.

I can't publish the job

A required field is missing. The message names it. Click Edit, fill it in and save.

Still stuck? Send us a message in the chat with the Bullhorn job order ID and a screenshot of what you see.
