How to reconnect Bullhorn or set up Auto reconnect

If Candidately loses the connection to Bullhorn, an Owner reconnects it in Settings > Integrations > Bullhorn. Auto reconnect does it for you next time.

Bullhorn sometimes drops the connection to Candidately. An Owner reconnects it in a few clicks, and Auto reconnect can do it automatically next time.

Who can do this: Owners. Not an Owner? You see "We have lost the connection to your Bullhorn account. Please ask your Bullhorn administrator to reconnect." Ask an Owner in your company.

How you notice

  • After you log in, you see "We have lost connection to your Bullhorn account. Please click the button below to reconnect."

  • In Settings > Integrations > Bullhorn, the Bullhorn integration card shows Connection failed instead of Connection successful.

Reconnect

  1. Click your name at the bottom left, then Settings.

  2. Under Integrations, click Bullhorn.

Settings menu with Integrations, Bullhorn highlighted, and the Bullhorn integration card showing its connection status
  3. On the Bullhorn integration card, click Reconnect Bullhorn. The button only appears when the connection has failed.

  4. Sign in with your Bullhorn login.

Result: the card shows Connection successful.

Get a Bullhorn API user (recommended)

Auto reconnect works best with a Bullhorn API user: a separate Bullhorn login used only for integrations, not by a person. It keeps working when someone in your team leaves or changes their Bullhorn password.

  1. Your Bullhorn administrator opens a support ticket with Bullhorn Support.

  2. In the ticket, ask for a dedicated API user for your Candidately integration.

  3. Bullhorn replies in the support case with the API user's login details. This can take a few business days.

  4. Use that login in the Auto reconnect steps below.

Questions about the API user itself go to Bullhorn Support.

Set up Auto reconnect (optional)

With Auto reconnect, Candidately reconnects by itself when the connection drops.

  1. In Settings > Integrations > Bullhorn, find Auto reconnect (optional) and click Enter credentials.

Auto reconnect (optional) section with the Enter credentials button highlighted
  2. In Auto reconnect integration, enter the Username and Password of your Bullhorn API user (or another Bullhorn login) and click Save.

Result: the page shows "You are connected to Bullhorn with the following user:" and the username.

To turn it off, click Remove credentials. Removing your credentials turns Auto reconnect off.

Good to know

  • Changed your Bullhorn password? Reconnect. If Auto reconnect uses that login, enter the new password there too. Your Candidately login doesn't change.

  • The connection is for your whole company. Other users don't need to reconnect.
