Add custom job fields

Add your own fields to a job, like a shift pattern, next to the standard fields your team fills in.

Written by Jan Alexander Jedlinski

Who can do this: Owners and Admins.

Every job comes with the usual fields built in: title, description, location, compensation, category, work mode and employment type. When your team needs to record something else on a job, add your own field.

Open the job fields

Note: There are two Field management pages. Use the one under Jobs, not the one under Candidate settings.

Add a field

  1. Click Add new field.

  2. Enter a Field title, for example "Shift pattern".

  3. Optional: add an Internal description if your team needs a hint, and pick a Custom icon.

  4. Click Next.

  5. Pick a Field type, like Text Single Line, Long text, URL, Number, Date, Checkbox, Single Select or Multiple Select. For a select field, add the options: type one and press Enter for the next, or click Paste in options to paste a list.

Create a new custom field dialog, step 2 Field type dropdown: Text Single Line, Long text, URL, Number, Date, Checkbox
  6. Click Create.

Your field is now in the Field management list.

Show the field on jobs

A new field doesn't show anywhere until you add it to a job appearance. That's where you decide if your team fills it in on the job form, and if candidates see it on the job page. See Choose which fields a job shows.

Good to know

  • A field that isn't on any job appearance is internal: it's saved with the job, but candidates never see it.

  • Select fields you add can show up as filters on your public board, once they're on the job detail view.

  • Using Bullhorn? Job field mapping can fill your own fields from the job order. See Map Bullhorn job fields to your jobs.
