Filter AI Search results by Bullhorn fields

Add hard filters on Status, Owner, custom fields or any other Bullhorn candidate field on top of your Candidate Search AI search.

Written by Jan Alexander Jedlinski

Bullhorn filters make sure every Candidate Search AI result also meets your hard facts: status, owner, source, a custom field, or another field on the Bullhorn candidate record.

Who can do this: Anyone with Candidate Search AI and Bullhorn connected. Admins choose which fields are available. · Product: Candidate Search AI · Where: All candidates → AI Search → Filters sidebar → Bullhorn filters

Before you start: Bullhorn filters only show when Bullhorn is connected. Your admin decides which Bullhorn fields can be used, in Settings → Candidate search → General → Bullhorn filterable fields.

You find the filters at the bottom of the Filters sidebar, under Bullhorn filters. Active filters show as chips.

Which candidates does a Bullhorn filter keep?

A Bullhorn filter only returns candidates connected to Bullhorn. Candidates that exist only in Candidately, for example resumes uploaded straight into Candidately, drop out as soon as you add any Bullhorn filter. If candidates disappear after you add a Bullhorn filter, check whether they're in Bullhorn.

How do I add a Bullhorn filter?

  1. Under Bullhorn filters, click Add Filter.

  2. In "Filter options…", enter the field name, for example "Status" or "Owner", and select the field. The list shows the Bullhorn fields your admin made available, including custom fields.

  3. Select a condition. For picklist fields such as Status, the conditions are is, is not, includes any, does not include any, is unknown and has any value.

  4. Select the value or values. For Status you see your own Bullhorn statuses (New Lead, Active, Placed, DNU, Archive and so on). For text fields, enter the value.

  5. Click Done.

  6. Click Apply Changes at the bottom of the sidebar. Filter edits only run once you apply them.

The filter shows as a chip, for example "Status is New Lead". Remove a filter with the x on its chip, then click Apply Changes.

Examples

  • Status is Active: only candidates you can work with right now

  • Status is not DNU: keep do-not-use candidates out of the search

  • Status includes any: Active, New Lead

  • Onboarding Status has any value: only candidates who have started onboarding

  • A custom field, for example Security Clearance is Active

How do I combine Bullhorn filters?

Click Add Group under Bullhorn filters to combine conditions with their own AND / OR, for example (Status is Active OR Status is New Lead) AND Onboarding Status has any value.

Things to know about Bullhorn filters

  • Bullhorn filters narrow the list. They never add candidates.

  • Candidates that aren't in Bullhorn drop out once any Bullhorn filter is active.

  • Edits only take effect after Apply Changes.

  • A filter on a field that's empty for most candidates removes most candidates.

  • Missing a field you need? Ask your admin to add the field in Settings → Candidate search → General → Bullhorn filterable fields.

How do I check the filter worked?

After Apply Changes, check the candidate count at the top right of the results. Open a profile and look at BULLHORN CANDIDATE METADATA to confirm the value, for example the status.

Pro tip: Ask your admin to trim Bullhorn filterable fields to the fields your team uses, so Add Filter shows a short list.
