Who can do this: anyone who can edit the list changes its search settings. Owners and Admins set the company defaults.
Product: Talent Marketplace
Where: Your client's view of a marketing list. Settings: Marketing lists → your list → List configuration → General
Clients can search your marketing list by keyword and narrow it down with filters. You decide whether they see the search bar, whether the filters start open and whether they can search by name.
What do clients see at the top of the list?
A search bar that says "Enter job titles, skills, names and other keywords". On a phone it says "Search...".
The filters Skills, Location, Remote and Work experience.
A filter button next to the search bar, if the filters start collapsed. Its tooltip says Show filters or Hide filters.
Clear filters, once a filter is set.
How does the search bar work?
The client types a word, for example a job title or a skill.
Suggestions open: matching candidate names first (if name search is on), then the typed word and matching skills.
The client presses Enter to search for the typed text, or clicks a suggestion.
Result: the list only shows the matching candidates.
With more than one word, a candidate doesn't need to match all of them.
Clicking a candidate name shows only that candidate and clears the other filters.
Which filters can clients use?
Skills: enter a skill and pick an Experience (optional): Low (0-3 years), Mid (4-6 years) or High (7+ years). With more than one skill, candidates need all of them.
Location: enter a place. A Radius works for cities, postal codes and streets.
Remote: Filter for remote candidates.
Work experience: a range in years.
What can I change on a list?
Open the list and click List configuration → General. Each change saves straight away.
Setting | Options | New lists start with |
Search bar on lists | Show search bar or Hide search bar. Hidden: clients don't get the search bar and the filters always show | Show search bar |
Filter visibility (only when the search bar shows) | Collapsed (Need to be expanded to apply filter): clients click the filter button first. Visible at all times: the filters always show | Collapsed (Need to be expanded to apply filter) |
Candidate name search | Yes, searchable or No, not searchable. No: names don't show in the suggestions | Yes, searchable |
If the list's candidate appearance shows a job title instead of the name, name search is off and the setting shows Deactivated: Candidate name hidden.
How do I change the defaults for new lists?
Click your name or photo at the bottom left.
Click Settings, then General settings in the left menu.
Click the Marketing lists tab.
Set Search bar on lists default behavior, Filter visibility default behavior and Candidate name search default behavior.
Click Save changes.
Result: new marketing lists start with these settings. Lists you already have keep their own.
Does search work the same on job submission lists?
Yes. Job submission lists in the Client Portal use the same search bar, filters and settings. On a job submission list shown by stage, clients click Search & Filter to open them. See Browsing a list: stages, search, filters, candidate view, mobile (what your clients see).
Pro tip: If your clients don't find the filters, set Filter visibility to Visible at all times. Then they see the filters without clicking the filter button.
