Candidately’s AI Search makes it incredibly easy to find the right candidates — even inside large ATS databases with hundreds of thousands of profiles. Instead of guessing keywords or building complex Boolean strings, you can simply describe what you’re looking for in plain language.
This guide walks you through your first AI-powered search and how to understand the results.
1️⃣ Type What You're Looking For in Plain Language
At the bottom of the All Candidates page, you’ll see a large search bar.
You can simply describe the role you’re trying to fill:
“Senior React developer, 5–8 years, JavaScript + TypeScript, Berlin area, no PHP.”
“Mid-level Java backend engineer, 3–6 years, microservices + Spring, must speak German.”
“Data engineer with Python + SQL, 3–6 years, experience with Snowflake and Airflow.”
Candidately’s AI automatically extracts:
Skills
Experience
Seniority
Location
Excluded skills
Additional requirements
💡 The AI understands synonyms, skill variations, job title equivalents, and context (e.g., “React” = “ReactJS” = “React Native”). You can refine everything later in the filters.
⚡Search Do's and Don'ts
Do:
✔️ Start with one clear sentence about the role
✔️ Include 3–5 key requirements
✔️ Use experience ranges (“3–6 years”)
✔️ Mark only your most important skills as Required
✔️ Add realistic nearby locations or a radius
✔️ Keep secondary skills as optional — let the AI weigh them
Don't:
❌ Mark everything as Required (you will filter out too many)
❌ Use overly broad Required skills (“IT”, “frontend development”)
❌ Expect perfect results from a single keyword prompt
❌ Combine unrelated roles in one query (“developer + project manager”)
2️⃣ Search Across Your Entire Bullhorn Database
If Bullhorn is connected, Candidately uses all available candidate data, including:
Candidate profiles synced from Bullhorn
Updated resumes uploaded or refreshed in Bullhorn
Skills, job history, titles, education, notes, and more
Recruiter notes
Custom fields
Unlike traditional ATS search, which only matches keywords, Candidately performs semantic analysis, meaning it understands:
Equivalent job titles
Related skill concepts
Industry context
Location preferences
Variations in how candidates describe themselves
So even if a candidate’s resume uses different wording, the AI still recognizes the match.
3️⃣ Instantly See the Most Relevant Candidates
Your results appear automatically — ranked by relevance.
Each candidate includes:
⭐ Match Score
Shows how strong the fit is relative to your query.
💬 AI Summary
A short explanation of why the candidate was suggested (skills, experience, location alignment).
📌 Highlighted Skills & Experience
The system highlights the exact details that match your search.
This makes screening dramatically faster — you understand the match at a glance, not after reading an entire resume.
