Use the Location filter in Candidate Search AI to keep only candidates in or near the places you choose.
How do I add a location?
In the Filters sidebar under Location, select miles or km above the field.
In the field "City, State, ZIP or Address", enter a place and select it from the suggestions.
Drag the radius slider to include candidates within that distance. At the far left the slider shows Entire area: the whole city or region you named, with no surrounding ring. The slider goes up to 100 km or miles.
To add another place, repeat steps 2 and 3. You can add up to 5 places, for example "Berlin, Germany" and "Hamburg, Germany" as two entries.
Click Apply Changes at the bottom of the sidebar.

Select the place from the suggestions as you type.

Drag the slider to set the distance around the place.
Candidate Search AI also sets the location for you when you write "Berlin or within 50 km" in the search bar.
Why can't I set a radius for a country?
A radius only works around a city, ZIP or address. For a country or region, the card shows "Radius search not applicable for this area type". To search around a specific spot, add a city, ZIP or address instead.

How does Candidate Search AI use the location?
Filter: candidates whose location is outside all your areas are removed.
Radius: the location tooltip says the radius is "approximate, so a small radius can cover less than the whole city." Use Entire area if you want the whole city.
Relocation: the tooltip also says: "Candidates open to relocating to the place are always included." They show up even if they live somewhere else.
Missing location: candidates without a usable location on their profile can't be matched by distance. If you rely on location, keep addresses clean on the candidate profile (in Bullhorn, if you use Bullhorn).

Can I search for remote candidates?
Candidate Search AI has no remote filter. Write remote wishes in the Ideal Candidate Brief, for example "open to fully remote work", and leave the location filter empty if the place doesn't matter.
Can location be a preference instead of a rule?
Yes, location can be a preference. Leave the location filter out and say it in the search bar or the brief, for example "ideally in southern Germany". Then no one is removed because of where they live.
Not enough results?
Widen the radius, or switch to Entire area.
Add neighboring cities, or the region instead of one town.
Remove the location and mention it in the brief ("ideally in southern Germany") to keep it as a preference.
After each change, click Apply Changes and check the candidate count at the top right of the results.
Pro tip: Want the whole city? Drag the radius slider to the far left for Entire area. A small radius can cover less than the whole city.
