Candidately’s AI search doesn’t just return a list of names, it gives you scores, short AI explanations, and evaluation cues so you can quickly understand why a candidate was suggested and whether they deserve further attention.

This guide explains what each signal means and how to use them to make hiring decisions faster and smarter.

At-a-glance: the two signals you’ll see

  1. Match Score: a numeric measure of relevance

  2. AI Summary: a short, human-readable explanation of why the candidate matches (strengths, gaps, and a short snippet).

1. Match Scores

  • 80–100% (High) — Strong semantic and keyword match on skills, experience, and location. These are your fastest “look” candidates.

  • 50–80% (Medium) — Partial match: important skills may be present but experience or a critical skill could be slightly off. Worth considering if you can relax an optional requirement.

  • <50% (Low) — Candidate has partial overlap or matches less critical parts. Useful for exploration but not immediate submission.

Score is relative, not absolute.

Scores help rank results, but never replace reading the summary and profile.

2. How to use the AI Summary

  • Confirm the match: Does the summary mention your must-have skills? If yes, great.

  • Spot gaps fast: The “negative” bullets tell you exactly what’s missing, so you can decide whether to relax a requirement or move on.

  • Context matters: The details explain where the match came from (job title, bullets in the resume, skill callout), so you can judge signal quality.

  • Trust but verify: Summaries are generated from profile text. Check the candidate’s profile for ambiguous or outdated wording before final decisions.
