The AI Resume Builder lets you to reformat your candidate's original resume into a branded PDF or DOCX file in seconds.

Follow these steps to get started. We recommend testing the workflow with a few sample resumes before finalizing your account configuration.

1. Upload your first resume

Add a resume

Click the "Add candidate" button on the top right corner and select your candidate's original resume from your files.

Or simply drag and drop the candidate's original resume into the window.

Resume Parsing

Our proprietary AI parser automatically extracts key details from the candidate's resume, including the professional summary, skills, experience, education, certifications, languages, contact info, and more. Parsing progress appears in the bottom right corner.

Please note that only PDF and DOCX documents are supported for uploads. Images such as JPG or PNG will not be parsed.

2. Edit & enhance your formatted resume with AI

Select a profile

Click on the profile to view the formatted resume. Candidates can have multiple profile versions.

The candidate's original resume is on the right, and the formatted version is on the left. Click the Edit button on the top right corner to edit the formatted resume.

Edit the formatted resume directly in the right-hand panel. Leverage the Ask AI feature in any text field to enhance content effortlessly. Any updates will be instantly reflected in the live preview on the left side.

Formatted vs. Original Resume

Use the toggle to switch between the formatted and original resumes, allowing you to view them side by side while making edits.

Ask AI

The "Ask AI" feature integrates ChatGPT directly into your formatted resume.

Choose from predefined prompts like "Make shorter," "Make longer," or "Make friendlier," or draft custom prompts just as you would in ChatGPT.

AI-powered Recruiter note

The AI-powered Recruiter Notes uses ChatGPT to summarize the candidate's experience from their resume, highlighting relevant skills and qualifications. Generate up to ten unique drafts, select your favorite, and customize it as needed.


3. Export your formatted resume as a PDF or DOCX file

Select the PDF or DOCX option

Click the blue Export button to select either a PDF or DOCX format.

You can also find the export option in the bottom right corner of the Edit screen.

Preview your export

A full preview of your file appears on the left side, showing how your resume will look after export.

Configure your export

Before exporting the file, you have multiple options to make additional configurations.

  1. Select branding

    Select your preferred branding, which can be customized based on options predefined by the Owner or Admin user in the Settings.

  2. Select your candidate appearance (resume template)

    Select your preferred candidate appearance, which serves as a template for the resume layout. Templates can be predefined by the Owner or Admin in the Settings. Learn more about candidate appearance here.

  3. Select candidate representative
    Select your preferred candidate representative, whose name, profile picture, email, and phone number will be displayed on the resume. Users can easily update their contact information through their Account Settings.

  4. Set file name for export

    Set the file name for export, allowing you to customize the file name before downloading the document.

Attach documents to your formatted resume

Attach additional documents to be exported along with the formatted resume, such as a reference document, the candidateโ€™s portfolio, or certifications. Use the drag-and-drop handle to position these documents before or after the formatted resume.

Anonymize your formatted resume

Before exporting the formatted resume, you have the option to anonymize it.

Customize how the candidateโ€™s name and job title are displayed, and toggle off contact information or other details. This process, called Candidate Data Control, allows you to manage data visibility for each export or use a pre-defined template with your preferred settings already applied.

As the final step, export the formatted resume by clicking the Download PDF button. Please note that each export consumes one resume export credit.

Please note that the DOCX export offers the same configuration options as the PDF export, except for attaching additional documents.


4. Configure your resume templates

The Candidate Appearance defines the layout and structure of the content in your formatted resumes.

Under the Candidate Appearance settings, you can configure your resume templates. Your account comes with a default appearance, but we would recommend you review and customize it to align with your preferred format.

Keep in mind that access to Candidate Appearance settings is restricted to Owner and Admin users.

The Candidate Appearance settings allow you to rearrange all fields (Both default and custom) into unique sections on the candidate profile and edit form. Additionally, you can configure visibility settings in the Data Controls section.


5. Configure your branding

Branding lets you upload a header, footer, and logo as well as configure key elements such as color codes, icons, date formats, and layout options.

Your account comes with a sample branding which we recommend updating.


6. Invite your team

Go to User Settings to invite your team and collaborate on resume formatting.

Click the "Invite User" button on the top right corner to invite your team.

Users can be assigned roles as an Owner, Admin, or Member.

7. Setup your Bullhorn integration (optional)

The Bullhorn integration lets you import resumes from the Files tab on the candidate record in Bullhorn, save formatted resumes back to Bullhorn, and embed the Resume Builder as a custom tab in Bullhorn. Additionally, you can set up custom field mapping to pre-fill custom fields in Candidately when importing candidates from Bullhorn. Learn more here.

Go to the Bullhorn Integration Settings to setup the integration.

After connecting the integration, activate it by enabling the toggle.
