Updated over 3 months ago

Are you looking to tailor candidate information in your submissions to fit your unique needs? Dive into the combined power of Field Management and Candidate Appearance settings to unlock the potential of fully customizable candidate presentations. This guide is designed to walk you through managing default and additional fields seamlessly. You can learn more about enhancing candidate presentations in our dedicated Candidate Appearance Help Center article.

Please note πŸ“š : Owner and Admin type users can create and manage Candidate Fields.

Field management in Candidate.ly is user-friendly, providing Default Fields (with some customization options) and the ability to create Custom Fields, adding an extra layer of flexibility to your candidate presentations.

Creating a Custom Field

To create a new custom field, simply click on your initials or profile picture in the bottom left corner. Navigate to Settings and select Field Management in the Candidate Settings configuration section.

Click "Add new field":

A pop-up menu will appear, allowing you to input the Field Title and Description, add an Icon, and preview the new field.

After clicking Next you will be able to select the field type from the following options:

  • Text Single Line

  • Long text

  • URL

  • Number

  • Date

  • Checkbox

  • Single Select

  • Multiple Select

  • File Upload

  • Rate

Set whether the field will be Restricted or Instantly visible:

- Restricted: Requires client request for access to the candidate's CV to view the field - applies mostly to Marketing List use cases.

- Instantly visible: the default setting for all Job Submission lists.

Choose whether the field will be Public or Internal:

- Public: visible to the end client.

- Internal: confidential, only visible to your team - ideal if it is sensitive information you intend to safeguard from the end client.

Finally, click the "Create" button in the bottom of the screen.

Now, the new field is accessible when uploading or editing candidates and within the Candidate Appearance settings for display customization.

Pro Tip πŸ’‘: Explore our Field Mappings Help Center article to learn how to map Bullhorn fields to these custom fields for automated data import.

Editing Custom Fields

Click "Edit" next to a custom field to access a menu for modifications, as illustrated below:

Within this menu, you can adjust the following:

  • Field Title

  • Internal Description

  • Field Icon

  • Field Restriction

  • Field Visibility

This menu also includes the option to "Archive" custom fields, removing visibility during candidate profile editing or uploading and excluding it from the Candidate Appearance settings.

Editing Default Fields

Default fields, too, can be modified to some extent. Click "Edit" on any default field to access a menu in which you can change the Field Title.
