Search engines, link previews and XML job feeds

Control how your board appears on Google and in shared links, and feed your jobs to job-ad platforms.

Written by Gustavo Teran

These settings are on each board under Settings → Jobs → Job boards → [your board]. The Google preview on the right updates as you type.

Titles and descriptions

  • Board page title and Board page description: used for your board's main page in Google and when the link is shared. Up to 60 and 160 characters.

  • Job page title and Job page description: used for every job page.

  • Click a tag to insert it: {board_name}, {company_name}, {job_title}, {job_location}.

  • Leave a field empty to use the default shown under it. For job descriptions, the default is the first 240 characters of the job description.

Example job page title: {job_title} in {job_location} | {company_name}

Search engine indexing

  • Visible to search engines (default): Google can list your board and jobs.

  • Hidden from search engines: adds noindex to every page. Use this for internal or test boards. Pages already in Google drop out over time, not straight away.

  • Custom directive: for advanced users who want to set the robots meta tag themselves.

XML feed for job ads

  1. Set Publish an XML feed for job distribution to Yes.

  2. Click Copy next to Feed URL and give the URL to your distribution partner, for example Recruitics.

  3. Click Save changes.

  • Platforms read the feed a few times a day, so new jobs can take a few hours to appear as ads.

  • Only published jobs are in the feed. Pausing or closing a job removes its ads.

  • Regenerate URL creates a new feed address and the old one stops working. Only do this if the URL was shared with someone who shouldn't have it, and send the new URL to your partners.
